"Fireworks + Games": Liuyang's New Way to Play with Fireworks!

The national-level intangible cultural heritage "Liuyang Fireworks" will join forces with the blockbuster game *Peacekeeper Elite* to create a New Year’s spectacle that blends the virtual and real worlds, launching on December 31, 2025.

This innovative collaboration between "fireworks + gaming" is also a cultural outreach initiative targeting 80 million users, allowing the thousand-year-old craft of fireworks to shine with renewed brilliance in the digital realm. It represents yet another innovative practice by Changsha, the UNESCO City of Media Arts, aimed at promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional art through modern digital media.

To deepen the experience, the event features the specially crafted "Liuyang Fireworks Workshop," which transforms core processes of Liuyang fireworks production—such as tube-making, gunpowder-filling, fuse-insertion, and shaping—into engaging interactive gameplay. Players can freely design colors, shapes, and special effects to create unique digital fireworks, and set them off at will within the game—whether at the workshop’s launch platform, by the romantic seaside, or atop city skylines. Players can also input New Year’s greetings, which will ascend into the sky as captions alongside the fireworks, and share them instantly on social media. This deep interactive design vividly embodies the "participation and co-creation for all" philosophy championed by the City of Media Arts.
